The Bond Fundamentals Workshop provides students with a practical, plain-language foundation in how bond markets actually work, from how cash flows, yield, and price fit together to why a bond’s value moves with interest rates and what the market charges for the risk of not getting paid back. Participants learn how to value a bond and why it trades above or below par, how to measure its sensitivity to rate changes through duration and convexity, and how to read credit risk directly from the price by understanding what spreads reveal about a borrower long before a default ever happens. Through a multidisciplinary approach spanning fixed income, capital markets, risk management, and real estate finance, participants build intuition for how debt markets behave, learn the vocabulary expected in credit research, capital markets, and portfolio roles, and are prepared for careers across finance and real estate.
